Donor Rosemary Kitson wrote to Douglas Sweet: "They belonged to me and I think they were probably the gloves I carried when I was presented to Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace in 1956. I'm afraid I can't remember where we bought them; certainly somewhere in London. You are quite right - they probably were hardly worn at all, just carried!"
