Historical Association notes:

John Gardner was the retiring Master Glover of the Worshipful Company of Glovers of London in 1995 and gifted a pair of these gloves to guests at the Banquet at the end of his year of office. John Gardner wrote of his selection (in 2018): "Jenny had long thought that the glorious gloves that she gained over the years to be, more often than not, pretty will useless for more than once in a blue moon use so decided that we would given nice practical driving gloves".
