A pair of womenswear gloves, in chestnut-brown snakeskin and leather; wrist length (button length 2), with snakeskin back, leather palm, handsewn throughout, bound vent on palm at wrist, Boulton thumb, quirks and fourchettes.
Vendor Mrs Burch wrote to Douglas Sweet about the provenance of this pair of gloves: Mrs Burch was from Czechoslovakia, and her parents died in a concentration camp during the Second World War. Mrs Burch noted that this pair of gloves was one of many that were rescued and kept for the family by the cooks and one of the maids.
