Provenance

Historical Association notes:

A tag reading '354.960 Norwich Castle House' was attached to the gloves when acquired at auction. Douglas Sweet spoke to Martin Warren at Norwich Castle Museum and on 27/10/2010 wrote: "Acquired by the museum, on loan from a lady in Portugal, in 1960. She was an air hostess at the time, and they were returned to her in August 1962. Said to have belonged to Oliver Cromwell! The museum will not (quite understandably) give us her name, and no doubt long since moved from Portugal - and is she still alive?!"
